For those of you who don’t know, I was a Youth Pastor for about 7 years before coming to LifeChurch. We used to do some crazy stuff. I was cleaning out my office and I found these two pictures of part of our group rafting down the South Fork of the American River. I think it was in like 1998 & 1999 – anyway, our lead pastor must have really trusted me because I took like 20, 12-18 year olds on “Double-Dog Dare”. This was an insane trip up to norCal where we rappelled down Moaning Cavern – it’s like a 180′ free rappell into a cave! Then we spelunked in pitch darkness for about 3 hours, crawling through openings that were like 18″ x 18″. By the way, there are two places on Earth where it is naturally pitch black, this was one, the bottom of the ocean is the other – you can actually go blind from spending too much time in that environment.
Anyway after spending all day crawling through the deep, dark underbelly of the earth, we’d camp out and then the next morning we were up at the crack of dawn to test our wits against the mighty American River. What a blast we had! Here’s the pictures:
