One of the teachers at our school is posting a picture at day on her Facebook page. I think that’s a cool idea, so I’m going to *try* and copy her, here. I’ve got a little catching up to do – 8 days to be exact. S0 here goes:

sharing

Our Middle School Department came up with a cool idea for their events – they want the kids to take photos & videos with their cameras & cell phones, then somehow collect all the media centrally & edit it together to make a presentation when the event is over. Personally, I love the idea and want to make it happen today! But I do have some questions for those who have done this before or just know more about this than us. So here’s some random statements and questions:

  • My initial thought was to create a Flickr account & pass out the username/password combo to everyone. Of course we’d monitor it and change the password once we had a good collection. But is that easy enough? Can most phones today connect to Flickr?
  • What about just an email account? I worry that videos might be a problem for that?
  • Is there something out there that works for both photos & videos that is SUPER easy to explain and works with phone & email?

So if you wouldn’t mind sharing your thoughts, ideas, expertice, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Well it’s about time! He’s had a loose tooth for over a month and tonight, with a little help from Dad, Miles lost his very first tooth! We’re all so excited – it’s one of those milestones. Here’s a little video to commemorate the event!

So, Jen just got done gluing some glitter to a couple dollar bills (man, inflation is good!), and I just got done replacing the tooth with the bills – can’t wait to see him in the morning!

33333I’m reading ‘Searching for God Knows What‘ by Donald Miller – loaned to me by my good friend Andre. So far I am loving it. I just thought I’d take a minute and drop a few quotes that are blowing my mind.

…life is complex, and the idea that you can break it down or fix it in a few steps is rather silly. The truth is, there are a million steps, and we don’t even know what the steps are, and what’s worse, at any given moment we may not be willing or even able to take them; and still worse they are different for you and me and they are always changing.

Some would say formulas are how we interact with God, that going through motions and jumping through hoops are how a person acts out his spirituality. This method of interaction, however, seems odd to me, because if I want to hang out with my friend Tuck, I don’t stomp my foot three times, turn around, and say his name over and over like a mantra, lighting candles and getting myself into a certain mood. I just call him.

Those quotes are awesome and speak right to how I feel. Sometimes I just get so fed up with people who ‘have all the answers’ – it’s such a turn off. I want to experience life – the good, the bad, the mysteries, the joys. Don’t tell me to follow these four steps to know God. Show me how he’s changed your life, show me the love, the patience, the wisdom, the compassion… (I’m speaking to myself).

Here’s what John had to say about it…

No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

1 John 4:12

Needless to say, I’m enjoying this book. And by the way, if you want to follow what I’m reading, check out my Goodreads profile.

Today it was my job to take the kids for haircuts. We went to Toon Cuts, a local place that rocks! They have video games in the waiting area and movies at each station, continuing the brainwashing of our children – I don’t care, they LOVE it & totally behave for the haircut process. Here’s some pics of our time there today.
