Sunday Night Sandals

So I have been blogging for only a few months – my main influence to get more into blogging was my friend Bobby, who turned me onto Carlos and the whole worship confessional. (I’m having a hard time consentrating while watching Anchorman). Anyway, when I found out that Carlos was the worship pastor at Sandals, I knew I had to get over there and check out a service. So tonight I took our music director – Karl, creative arts director – Jennifer, and our audio engineer – Chris, plus spouses, plus Jake and Justin and their wives were there too.

It was a very cool experience – a nice break from “working” at church. When we got there, Matt and the band were rockin pretty hard – sounded good, plus a full house – there was a great vibe. The worship was heartfelt – I really loved that the entire band seemed to be really fired up and worshiping together, really leading the church in worship. (now it’s really distracting – the “Pleasure Land” scene is on). I enjoyed having multiple leaders, transitions were sweet, and the band was incredibly tight.

Carlos shared an awesome message on increasing Christ in your life, producing more authentic worship – at least that’s what I got from it. (“sky rockets in flight…”). After the talk, Carlos jumped on guitar and led and taught through a couple other songs, Marvelous Light, and Inside Out. Then they completely NAILED Hosanna – the temperature was worship.

Afterwards, Chris couldn’t wait to get down and talk shop with some of the tech people – he’s a huge gear head and was all over the M7. He hooked up with Nathan who was super helpful – thanks Nathan! I was able to hook up with Carlos – super friendly. I think he’s the first person I’ve ever met in person who I knew from net-world first. (“that’s how I roll…” – Jack Black).

Sounds like a good time. We did “Marvelous Light” last night as well at Kairos!

It was a total blast! It was really nice to be able to get out and enjoy a service instead of workin’ it. A good refresher that what we do is for him! Wow, it’s so cool to serve!
