I had this idea a couple weeks ago for a teaching series – “Spaghetti Western” Dirty Rotten Bible Characters.
I don’t really like the “Bible Characters”, but I can’t think of anything better right now. This series would look at the lives of some of the worst of the worst guys/gals in the Bible; stories like (in no particular order):
- Cain, Herod, Pilate, Judas, Nebuchadnezzar, etc, etc.
OR we could go in a completely different direction and do something like – “Spaghetti Western” The Roughest, Toughest…
This would cover mainly rediculous OT Bible stories of amazing things happening, such as:
- David & Goliath, Moses, Abraham, Joshua, Isaiah, etc.
Either way, this series would be more of a Bible information series, catching new believers up on stories that we all learned in Sunday School, and giving more mature Christians some new perspective on old familiar stories.
I was thinking that we could really do some fun audio/video stuff for the intro – the old rattlesnake, coyote, chain jingling, and then the wha-wha-whaaaaaa. And the stage decor would be really cool, old western props, barrels, bottles, guns, fences, hay bales, etc.
Also, we have a local “saloon” that we’ve rented out before. We could end the series with a good old hoe-down to country music (the Ranch Rockers), the mechanical bull, BBQ, and country line dancing. Now please I am not a dancer or a huge country fan, but this would be a real fun and exciting time – easy to invite unchurched people to!
Maybe we could have one of those old time photo’s companies there to take free pictures of families…?
So, as always, I’d love feedback, additional ideas, opinions, etc. Below is some art that I found that I really like the style of for this series.
